Snow Day

It finally snowed!! It actually felt like winter for a whole day! but then it went back to being in the 60s...in February.  Oh well, at least I got to frolic in the snow at least once this winter.
When it started snowing, that sad day in the middle of midterm season,  my friend MADE me go in the snow with her to take pictures of it since it would probably be our only change to takes pictures of actual snow this year.  I didn't need a whole lot of convincing to put down my Ethics and Human Rights in World Affairs book (yeah...never take that class).  We spent the longest time taking pictures of central grounds covered in snow.  My fingers and toes felt like they were going to fall off but it was so worth it.  I need to remind myself that its those little memories that make up a happy life, not the grade I get on one test.

I also have a new fancy for pretty fonts, so I tried writing some of my favorite quotes in different fonts.  I've been having way too much fun with it so far.  Sometimes my geeky-ness amazes even me...

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Over the summer, my sister and I got in the habit of baking something new almost everyday, but it mainly consisted of her baking, measuring, and beating while I sat and watched until it was time to pull it out of the oven.  I liked spending that time with her, but once I went back to school I didn't bake much unless I was with her.  All of a sudden, I've sort of picked it back up again, as a way to de-stress.  Sometimes it's nice to just take a break and bake for an hour or two.  It helps to unwind, contemplate the insanity of life, think about the future (or just the upcoming day).  I've enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and sharing it with the people around me.  It always pulls you out of a bad day or gloomy mood when someone likes what you've made!

These pictures are of one of the many red velvet cupcake batches my sister and I made together.  I experimented with some new editing techniques in Photoshop to make the pictures look like film lomography.  I love how they look grainy and washed out, just like some  of pictures taken with film cameras.  It took longer than I thought it would, otherwise I'd do this effect on all of my pictures!

autumn color

More Minolta pictures! Yes, I hadn't gotten film developed in a while, so it kinda built up...These were taken in the autumn when the leaves were beginning to change color and fall off the trees; the weather was starting to turn cold.  As a break from our usual Sunday routine of doing homework all day, my boyfriend and I decide to take our cameras and capture some of the fall color around campus.  We discovered some new things along the way too, like this billion year old church steeple from England tucked away in a forgotten garden...

those little moments no. 3

Hello, again! I’m terribly sorry for that mini hiatus.  My computer decided to break during the very first week of classes, and the computer support people decided to take a whole week to fix it! It’s crazy how much I rely on my computer, especially here at school.  I finally got it back, and I’m trying to catch up on all the reading I couldn’t do, but alas I’m still behind….as usual.  So much has happened in January that I don’t even know where to begin! So, what does every overly organized and obsessive person do? Make a list! Here are the things I did in January:

As you can see, my life has been a bit hectic, but I’m hoping it’ll slow down a bit as things start calming down which means more time for blogging! I wasn’t able to get as many diverse pictures this month as I would have hoped, but I guess being in a sorority house most of the day (and night) will limit my subjects a little.  There’s sort of a theme to this installment of those little moments.  Can you guess which sorority I’m in? Hint: we like owls (and neon).  A lot.
