Much Love Monday

Credit

Happy Monday! I'm so glad today is almost over.  It's been way too stressful for me.  I had an 8 page paper due at 4 which I started on Sunday and an architecture project due at 6 which took me all weekend to finish and it still looked bad.  Oh well.  It's the last week of classes and then it's finals and then it's summer.  I'm almost there.  Anyways, today while I was trying to destress, I found this ADORABLE video of a wedding ceremony.  I'm pretty sure I watched at least 5 times and cried every time.  It is just so cute! I think I might watch it again after I finish this post...yes, I'm a little obsessed with weddings if you can't tell.  I used to want to be a wedding planner.  Enough rambling.  I hope your weekends were filled with fun Easter activities!

Derby Days

Look at these GORGEOUS hats from a little shop on Etsy!! I'm in love.  There's a tradition at my school to go to the local horse races in the spring.  I'm planning on going this year, and I'm so excited.  Girls always dress up in fancy sundresses and big floppy hats, and the guys always wear cute ties or bow ties.  I've been looking for a hat for a while now, but I've decided that I just don't have a hat-wearing head.  They look funny on me.  If I looked decent in hats/could afford to buy a hat, I would definitely wear one of these to the races.

Welcome to Crabtown and Monument City

Annapolis

Although this is long overdue, as are basically all of my posts, I wanted to share with you my spring break!...even though it was sometime is March...over a month ago...
My boyfriend and I took a little trip to the Baltimore-Annapolis area in Maryland.  I was skeptical at first because I wasn't sure how prepared we were at managing a trip by ourselves.  I was pleasantly surprised when the trip went incredibly smoothly, thank goodness.

We stopped in Baltimore first where we explored the Inner Harbor.  I was really looking forward to seeing the USS Constellation, the Torsk submarine, and Fort McHenry, since Baltimore is the Monument City.  But alas, both the Constellation and the Torsk were away for repairs, and by the time we got to Fort McHenry it was closed.  We did walk around taking pictures on my Diana of Federal Park and the neighborhood behind it.  I haven't gotten the film developed yet so I can't show you what the houses looked like, but they were the CUTEST things I've ever seen.  They were all different colors and tiny with cute little front doors.  I want to live in one.  Also, we saw the World Trade Center and the aquarium.      Overall, it was a really fun day.

1: random tea shop, Annapolis; 2 & 4: Maryland Inn, Annapolis; 3: Houses, Annapolis

On the second day (the last day), we went to Annapolis which is now my new favorite city.  The buildings were so old and right up against the water.  There were sailboats everywhere and cute little random shops down every street.  I didn't want to leave!

World Trade Center, Baltimore

I found this sign on our way home somewhere in Maryland.  I just had to take a picture of it.  I've never seen my name spelled the same way that I spell it.  It was a special moment...

Much Love Mondays

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope your weekends were lovely.  Mine wasn't exceptional, but it was beautiful outside so I'm not really complaining.  So today I had a meeting with an advisor for students who want to study abroad.  It was really overwhelming because she basically said that I need to start planning now even though I don't want to go for another year or two.  I don't even know where I want to go!! This is so stressful....and probably not a good way to start off my week because I'll be freaking out about this for a while.

Also, join in the Much Love Monday fun here!

The White Southern Farm House

This post is long over due since these pictures were taken in January, but I guess it's better to be late than never right? Anyways, I took these pictures with my Diana F+.  It was my first time using black and white film and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  Most of the pictures on the roll didn't turn out very well.  But here are some that I thought turned out ok.  This house belongs to a family friend who is planning on knocking it down because it's too expensive to fix up.  I'm so sad to see it go.  It was such a pretty Southern farm house.  My family has had many memories on that spot of land.

You Can't See It

If you use film, you can't see it, so you need to feel it.
                                                                                    - HervĂ© Lewis

I have a new obsession! FILM! I am in love with the way film makes pictures look.  It's something about the texture and the color tones that just looks so raw.  I'm trying to convince my mom to give me her old film SLR.  I mean she never uses it! Why not let me use it for a little bit? I'm a pretty responsible person...most of the time...sort of...

ANYWAYS, any suggestions on how I can convince her to let me borrow it/potentially keep it? I'm running out of ideas.  I just really want to be able to take pictures like this!

Cardboard is Cool

It's my first year in the architecture school here, and I've taken 2 classes so far dealing with the ins and outs of architecture.  I did pretty well in the first class, but this second class...I'm not so sure...you see it's kind of like an art class only harder because the teacher is INSANE.  For the first part of the semester, I was practicing drawing, but now I'm starting to make models out of cardboard and it's really hard.  I took these pictures when I was having a mental breakdown because my box's sides wouldn't stay together and I wasn't allowed to use glue.  This cardboard is taking over my life! My desk (and room in general) is a complete mess! It's so bad that I even found a piece of cardboard in my bed last night.  Something's got to change.

Come Run the Hidden Pine Trails

"Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth"

I have a new fancy.  My moccasins!!  I got them because I needed a shoe that worked with a lot of different outfits but wasn't a flat or a tall boot.  When I saw these on Zappos, I knew they'd be perfect.  They go with dresses, skirts, jeggings, and jeans.  I love how the fringe swings around when I walk. They make me feel like Pocahontas from the Disney movie.  I just need a hummingbird and a raccoon for friends and I'm set.

April Fool's

Happy April Fool's Day!!

When I was younger, I got really into this holiday.  My sister and I played some "jokes" on our parents all throughout the day.  We would but saran wrap on the toilet and rubberband the sink sprayer so when someone turned on the water they would get sprayed.  We weren't very nice kids, but our parents weren't very nice back either....my mom told me that my pancakes had turned green.  My dad told us that our hamster had died.  It was a running tradition in my family for a very long time....but for some reason or another this year I kinda forgot about it...I think next year I should go all out and start planning some practical jokes earlier to make up for my forgetfulness.

Here are some good ideas found on Etsy for next year....I'm already starting to scheme...

Just so inedible eclairs...yummmy
and some donut soap so everyone can stay clean
Felt Cake....that's what I bake in my oven
I think this fake Coke is my favorite
I'm pretty sure I would freak out if I saw these (soap) dentures next to my toothbrush on the bathroom sink

I'm getting hungry just looking at this fake cake

What do you do for April Fool's jokes?
